- Nurse Sandy came and warned me about the hair loss situation. Also that chemo wouldn’t start probably for 3 more weeks. 4-6 wks after surgery.
- Told me to put on the micropore on my breast scar – up to 1 time per week for 6 wks.
- Gill agreed to come to CT and Bone scans with me
- Aunty Enid came over with lunch. I had a cup of tea with Barbara
- Mum brought tea around
Yes, each day I am processing more and as I read more, I’m feeling more confident that things will go smoothly. There is a lot of support to get through everything and that helps.
A friend of mine who is a GP says that chemo is getting better and better every year so not to expect bad side effects – some people actually feel good all the way through (as opposed to treatments even 2 yrs ago). So I will try for that outcome eh.
I would really appreciate any hints, suggestions on anything. A naturopath friend has suggested I do a big colonic cleanse to help everything. So I will start focusing on diet in the next week or so.
The important thing is for people not to worry. I will be ok long term – just a bit of a challenging year to go through (I have a couple of tests over the next couple of weeks to see if the cancer cells are anywhere else – but even if they are, it would just mean a different type of chemo so I think all the news so far is the worst of it).
Maree told me about a friend of hers who had breast cancer last year. She said she felt more energy throughout the chemo and afterwards, had heaps of energy. She thought that the tumour had been sucking her energy before. Looking back (and the doctors say my kind of tumour took 8-10 yrs to grow), I can see I’ve had a lot of fatigue. In 2000 and 2001, I went to have full checks because I was very tired. I’ve been low in energy from around then. So I’m thinking that long term, I will have all my energy back so it will be great. That’s a good picture don’t you think.
