I am staying at a healing retreat in Whangamata, the Puna Wai Ora centre http://www.punawaiora.com. The setting is divine, amongst the hill tops looking down on the sea and islands whilst surrounded by trees, spring blossoms and ferns. It really is a relaxing place.
It turns out that I am the first person to stay at this retreat centre. There is a fully self-contained studio flat downstairs and Glen and Arthur live upstairs. It is modern and spacious with artful design, oriented towards self-reflection, meditation and healing.
Cancer is one of their focus areas and Glen and Arthur do healing treatments by koha/donation http://www.alternative-cancer-care.com/Cancer_NZ_Retreat.html. It costs $65 per night to stay here including all food and a shared dinner. Arthur is a wonderful cook (I have my own private kitchen stocked with heaps of foods – breakfasts, lunch and snacks. It feels abundant).
I have had two therapy sessions with Glen where we have looked at the emotional cause of my personal cancer (as everyone will have a different cause). These have been insightful and I feel have helped me a lot.
I want to make more lifestyle changes but I personally believe there is an emotional cause to my cancer, especially when the conventional treatment did not result in full remission for me. I am keen to try new things and heal myself (I don’t want cancer back again). I do relate to much written about the cancer personality http://www.alternative-cancer-care.com/The_Cancer_Personality.html
I am resting, going on walks, reading and have watched a DVD on my laptop. I am particularly enjoying taking photos of the lovely surroundings.
Ok, I have two more days to go so will reflect more later on how the overall experience went.
