So on Wednesday, I launched my website and here is the Programme and raised $5,500 for the Cancer Society. It was fab! The Mac’s Brew Bar provided a free venue for the even in the lovely Cable Room, thanks Gail, it was lovely.
Lots of friends, family and former colleagues were there. Plus Jackie Blue, MP, Winnie Laben, many from the Cancer Society and lots of folks I didn’t know. Thanks for coming.
City Jazz was playing and they were amazing. Then, despite many nerves, I delivered a speech. And lots of photos coming soon!!
Jackie Blue then gave an interesting and inspiring speech on breast cancer, support, Herceptin and improvements in the public health cancer system. We moved on to the live auction which was a lot of fun and I think everyone came away with something :). It was a great night.
The generous generous sponsors of the event, Ingrid Pritchard, Scent, Mac’s Brew Bar, City Jazz, The Sounds Retreat , Michel Tuffery, Sheyne Tuffery, Tana Umaga, Alama Ieremia and the Hurricanes, Sole Mer Beach House, Raumati Sands Resort, Filo Tiatia and the Toyota rugby team…to name a few. Thank you so much as it all went to a good cause, the Cancer Society. We are just tallying up the amount made for the Cancer Society and it is around $5,500.
And very importantly, a team of volunteers made it all possible and thank you very much to them – Ingrid Pritchard from Scent Floral Boutique made everything beautiful. Lisa Bomash was the event manager. Gill Vincent and Julie Dyer designed and sold tickets, handled money and many, many other things, Mark Torley, the MC and auctioneer assisted by Sokha Mey. Rochelle Stewart-Allen recorded the speeches, Anna Woolhouse designed the poster. Moera Tuilaepa Taylor helped with the organising. My Mum Joy Fairbairn helped out with heaps of things and Nicky Fairbairn and Richard Taylor have covered the photography. A special thanks also to Ialia Toeleiu for writing the media release helping with my presentation!
Thanks everyone! BC Nirvana has been launched. Onwards and upwards from here.
