I have been doing lots of work on Breast Cancer Nirvana but it’s not noticeable from the outside – sorry it’s been a bit quiet.
I did a two week business course learning more skills to make BCN work better. It has been revelation learning about cashflows, tax, marketing and what my products and services actually are.
I have also been writing eBooks over the last three months. It takes quite a bit of work to get the text on the page, edit and re-edit and then have someone make it beautiful. I always forget about the last stage, as marketing and selling the eBooks also takes time. It is all done from passion for BCN so that is good; it is not really work at all.
I still think I have lowered immunity from cancer and its treatments. In the last month, I have had a cold plus the flu proper. The flu has taken me two weeks to recover from plus anti-biotics etc. Thank goodness I am feeling healthy now!
Good news! After months of discussions and nutrition lectures from medical specialists, my blood sugar levels are officially normal. This is fantastic as in January, I was pre-diabetic. In March, the blood sugar levels halved and in August, went to normal. I do eat well in general so felt that somehow the cancer treatments had caused this problem. I am eating more protein now and will continue with that. I don’t eat a lot of sugar and will continue to do that too. Regardless, I am over the moon to not have this to think about.
I really want to increase my fitness again after the flu so as Summer edges towards us, I’ll focus on increasing my exercise.
I still have weekly acupuncture appointments which are really great for rebalance, relaxation and building up my chi/energy. Todd has also taught me to tune more in to the four centres, not just the mind (my default) but also the body, heart and intuition.
Things are going quite well at the moment. I am back to renovating my house with retro wallpaper (removing the old wallpaper is not fun).
My relationship with Joel is going from strength to strength which is wonderful and breaking all my pictures about what to expect in a relationship in my 40s (for some of us, we are meant to meet lovely partners at mid life not in our twenties)..
I have a few interesting work projects coming up and I do feel quite satisfied and content with my life. I am going in the right direction and have found the right pace for me. I am not sure sure if I will ever work full time again in a traditional sense but doing contracts with breaks in the middle seems the right fit for my health and well-being.
I haven’t had an overseas trip this year. Mainly because I can’t afford it but it’s interesting that when life is going quite well, I don’t need an expensive trip to make my life better. My big France trip was one year ago and it was amazing and I do hope to go back again. I have been rediscovering travel around New Zealand and have booked a camping holiday in December.
What helps in recovery from breast cancer
- Weekly acupuncture
- Great support – friends and family
- The right pace of life – working out how much I can do and doing approximately that
- The right path for me – working out what makes me tick and doing things on that path
- Laughs, fun and things to look forward to
- Connection with special people
- Eating really well and exercising
As we lead up to breast cancer awareness month, I hope all is going well for you!
