I just noticed that I just had my two year milestone – two years on from finishing breast cancer treatment.
My health is getting better and better. I still have quite a few headaches and migraines but my energy levels are improving. I still need to catch myself now and then from overdoing it. I realised that I haven’t felt in really good health for over eight years. I am not that good at handling energy, drive and fatigue ie when I have energy, I often try to do too much. However, it is a good problem to have.
I am down to annual check-ups with my Breast Surgeon and I’m scheduled to go back for the next check up in March.
I have lots going on at the moment and things are heading in a nice direction. I have found it tricky to secure ongoing permanent work but have been doing contracts plus a few of my own projects:
- I am working on a book about my life and what I’ve learned through challenges such as breast cancer
- I am setting up a charitable trust to fund cancer support projects. It is called The Cancer Nirvana Trust and I’ll launch that and get in to some fundraising next year
- I have set up a new website called My Life Nirvana which focuses on tools and resources to spark positive change and transformation in the world (it is in set up stage)
- I’ve been working on an idea to create international holidays for people following their cancer treatment and friends and family. I’ll keep you posted.
And later this year, I’m heading to Italy for a writing retreat where I’m aiming to finish my book. I will keep you posted and can’t wait.
What I’ve learned post-cancer is that I want to make a difference by sharing my unique journey. I also want to do more creative type projects and really love to write.
What are the things that you’ve always wanted to do after cancer treatment?
